Well, the forum has been up for a couple of weeks now, and is growing quickly. So that it stays a friendly place with useful and productive discussion, we're going to need some moderators.

If you know of somebody who would make a good moderator, please email: [email protected] with the name, email address and a quick idea of why you think the nominee would be a good moderator.

In the spirit of keeping discussion open and fair, it would be good to have moderators from different areas of the industry.

Thanks to everyone who posts its the members that make the community ;)

Editor. Just set the rules and we will stick to them. ie.
No slagging off companies.
No advertising
Nothing sexual or racist. etc.

Don't let the big companies dictate what is written here. The holier than thou attitude is setting a poor precidence and creating a them and us situation. Of course the independant companies think they are doing a better job and that some of the bigger companies have lost their way, we must learn to co-exist there is room for all of us. Vermin are not bothered who is attempting to get rid of them or what the price is.

Hi Andy,
Everyone signing up and posting is bound by the Terms of Service: http://www.pestcontrolportal.com/Legal/Default.asp

If anything seriously goes amiss, I may have to intervene but that's something I'm very keen to avoid!

I'm really hoping that as the forum develops, the users can take some ownership and that means having a degree of self regulation. It will be great if everyone sticks to the house rules but I'm sure at some point there will be the odd problem. If users are involved in keeping the peace we won't run into any censorship issues.

I suppose your right sooner or later, problems will occur, but I hope not.
Its generally common sense, but cyber warriors will hide in their anonymity.
But Andys rules are a good starting guide with out being Draconion.

Prevention for protection

What exactly does a moderator do? The only ones I know are busy at the muzzle of my rifle!

Give us more info and then we can all nominate Nick and Bob!

Well, moderators get a few admin controls such as being able to amend or delete posts. Its not something they would do frequently, but the responsibility would be spread. Ideally, we would have a few from each sector - PCO, Manufacturing & Distribution, Associations, etc. so it's fully representative.

I think that way is the most fair.

I'm a moderator on a football club's fans forum and it's a busy job I'm afraid, mainly because football raises so many different opinions and some of 'em get so passionate and worked up about it all. I wouldn't imagine it would be much work on here though, you lot are far more civilised LOL

And NO I'm not volunteering!!!!!
