Hi Mal
I have just changed from a .22 rim fire to a .17 rim fire the difference betwen the two are astonishing, albiet the .17 has a lighter load the velocity is huge for the bullet size and you can expect a flat trajectory of 120 yds plus and it is consistent, the downside is two fold, carcase damage is higher and the round cannot be used for foxes, I believe the .17 round is safer and you can expect to build up your success on every outing on rabbits, your location I imagine can put you in the frame for deer stalking, push the boat out and apply for a .243 as well, you can adjust the loads to suit and use for foxes as well and have a good all round set up for little money,or see if the 22 250 might suit, I have a bucket load of info on .17 if you like a copy let me know - good luck
Phil
