Message:
Stephen Battersby, chair of the CIEH National Pest Advisory Panel has received a request from a trainee EHO, which I am posting here.
Is anyone able to help her?
"I am doing some research in Stevenage to identify the species of mouse most commonly being treated by our Pest Controllers inside houses.
Of the 22 mice I have caught so far inside dwellings, 17 have been Apodemus sylvaticus, 1 Apodemus flavicollis and 4 were Mus domesticus.
My question is whether any other Pest Controllers elsewhere in the UK have noticed a high prevalence of Apodemus in places where they were expecting to be treating for Mus.
Any anecdotal comments, or details of any similar studies would be very welcome, by mid-April 06, if at all possible (there's always a deadline!)
I can be contacted by email at [email protected] or by telephone, on 01438 242395.
If you could pass on my question and contact details to the Pest Control groups I would be very grateful.
Thanks again for your time,
Regards
Jo Robertson
