What I like about UKPCO moles day is the fact it was not only classroom but practical as well.
ADAS does a bit of practical.
Take that a step further with real type inspections, plastic roaches where real ones would be, choc drops for mice droppings in cupboard under units, stuffed mouse rat where it would be.
Use of duststicks on a prepared entrance hole with container to catch dust or use talc.
Can you imagine a kitchen so equipped to teach real type training?
Other ideas on this?

The Killgerm RSPH course recently introduced contains just such scenarios Nick.
The house at Ossett, is used and the basement is set up with cockroach traps with plastic roaches, a stuffed rat, real rat droppings, groundfloor has an ant infestation with traps and cockroaches in the kitchen ( plastic of course ). On the last course I also established a saucer of milk in the kitchen and childrens toys in the lounge!! Theres even a realistic rat hole in the front garden!
Nearby is an industrial site with many classic harbourages for rats ( real rats in this case ) and we have used a local hotels kitchen with mice and cockroach evidence ( plastic of course ). And we now have a housing department depot to play with.
Part of the course includes many practical scenarios as well.
The final half day is spent playing with equipment and how to service it.
The practical side of the training course is very well received.
Jonathan is also considering setting up a kitchen and bedroom in the training room at Ossett.
KG is concentrating on the practical side of training in a major way. It is the way forward, just as you suggest.

Shame its all up north - no help to us here in the deep south. Haven't Essex got something set up?

Adrian,
I have taken on the contract for a massage parlour in Cheltenham
(Yes one of those) any chance of a bit of free training on flushing from cracks and crevices for pests of unknown variety.
I will be needing assistance with this job any offers. Pay is poor but the fringe benefits look to be excellent. I am nearing 50 so a 25 year old and a set of jump leads would be good.

Pleased to help,have you noticed you can get tiny insect fridge magnets, just right for placing in the lip of kitchen trolleys, service counters.
About time for another session.
