It has been brought to my attention that a PC in my area went to a house recently. His bait was untouched after a few days. He put down sticky boards in the attic. He did this on Friday. I was more than a little shocked that he isn't actually going back until Tuesday - a full FOUR days. I know that you should go back at least once a day to check boards but I wondered if this was "recommended" or the law...thoughts and comments ? I never use the damn things myself and it strikes me as a bit of a desperate effort so soon into undertaking a job

There is no direct law that states that glue boards must be checked daily. The BPCA have a Code of Practice relating to their use:
http://www.bpca.org.uk/upload/sa61csyed93bsc4s19a6.pdf
This states daily following up.
Whilst there is no direct law, it is fairly clear that failure to check boards daily (ie following the Code of Practice as a minimum) would be classified as inhumane and contravene the Wildlife and Countryside Act.
