Adrian Meyer has run our "Commensal Rodent Control" training course for some time, with great success. Acknowledged as one of the UK's leading experts in rodent control, this introductory course that he developed for us has proved to be a hit every time we've run it.
But what about the 'old hands' who know the basics? The rodents don't stand still, so neither should we.
We asked Adrian to develop a new course, to supplement the existing one, aimed at helping established pest controllers with the new challenges that are developing and the result is a day to update you on the latest thinking in this area.
Called "Successful Rodent Control in the Modern Environment"it is a look at where we are now and a look forward to where we may be headed. It looks at the current rodenticides and formulations that are available to us, with comments on their strengths - and weaknesses.
It reviews the current knowledge on the distribution of physiologically resistant rats and mice, plus a look at the behaviourally resistant mice with which more and more of us are having to deal.
It explores the significance of new work on foraging behviour in rodents and how this affects bait acceptance and take.
Finally it looks at the issue of anticoagulant contamination of the food chain and the implications (both positive and negative) that this might have for the future of rodent control.
