It has been suggested to me in private that some of the posts below are racist. At least one regular contributor has been so offended by the references to gypsies that he has said he wants nothing more to do with the forum.
This forum has become a great place to discuss the pest control industry and to talk amongst ourselves, lets not ruin it now. This is not the place to air opinions about gypsies, or any other ethnic minority, except its impact on pest control.
I do not feel qualified to moderate these posts, so may I ask that the other moderators have a look at the postings in particular the glis glis thread, and edit them. It would be much better if the contributors edited anything they feel they have written which may be offensive themselves though. |

This forum is fantastic and the reason being it allows freedoms of speech not permissable on other forums. However, rules are in place so that members and the general public are not offended etc. I have had to moderate some threads and I totally agree with Matt that it isn't easy. Lets keep things civil and remember that this forum is open to the entire world. Please don't post anything that you may regret.
Matt, Dean and I are moderators and our job is to moderate in line with the T & C. If users remember this then we won't have to moderate.

Your Glis Glis thread was great. The part of one posting which I removed was offensive, even though you only intended it to be a joke. I decided not to wait for you to remove it yourself because you may not have logged on for a few days, and the more people who read it, the more chance of offence.
Your postings are entertaining and informative (usually) and the last thing I want is for you to leave us. IMHO, this problem has been caused by people taking things too much to heart, and you now seem to be taking this critism very personally. As you pointed out, yours was not the only post which could have been mis-understood. e-mail me. |

for someone who doenst like moderating your doing a fine job of removing comments when you said you wanted someone else to do it.
ive ineteracted with other members tonight via email who dont seem to have a probelm with what was wriiten, and those who claim to want nothing to do with this forum due to what i may have typed need to losen up a bit, no harm was intended,
as for get over it mate, yo started it, so im entitled to defend myself. |

Dont worry pesttech, my knickers are not in a twist. The thread about ethnic minorities is different. The biggest difference is that it is about pest control.
I dont like moderating, and as soon as someone else comes forward who wants the job (that the editor wants)I will stand down. In the meantime, get over it. |

dont suggest it was you for one minute Bry honestly mate, and if anyone had a right to it would of been you, and if i offended your darling wife(HOPE I NEVER MATE REALLY, CANT STRESS ENOUGH)i never meant too, but it seems absolutley obserd to me that someone would take offense to such a silly relpy that has been around on the net for a few years to such an extent of refusing to participate in a forums activity, i mean what a drama queen, then for the mods to remove cetain parts of the thread whenh theres a post about ethnics, pmsl, theres less harmfull material in my glis glis post that there is in that IMHO, what a ****ing joke. |

in my reply it states i never meant it as a personal dig to anyone from romany descent, but for some reason youve removed that aswell, if damage has been done then why doesnt that person air his views instead of hiding behind a mod? no offense was intended at all, and if anyone took offennse then a simple email/personal pm would of done and appologies would of been sent, i think your just making a drama out of nothing. |

Oh dear. I was concerned something like this may happen.
I took the opinion that it was best to leave the thread alone (as we are all keen on free speech) because:
1. No complaints were recieved (I'm hearing about this now)
2. The posts reflect badly on the individual users - after all users are responsible for their own posts.
I want EVERYONE to be welcome on this forum, and racism is not acceptable. You'll notice this is stated in the T&C.;
Guys - I know youre enjoying the forum. Lets not mess it up?
The Moderators are here to help, as am I.
