It all depends on the kind of contracts that are written. As the report indicates, many home owners in Florida have annual contracts with pest cntrol companies to provide protection against termites. For the most part this consists of an annual inspection of the property for evidence of active termite infestation and an insurance policy to cover any termite damage that might occur during the year.

Currently I don't think punitive damages are awarded by courts in the UK.
