Whilst doing a sparrow relocation (under Licence) in a Farm Store part of a large group 17+ stores,.
Looked at what they supply, rodenticides, traps etc amateur, professional use, the fact I can buy Talunex and Phostoxin from same supplier(yes with bit of paper), not quite a major range of insecticides, but most available, wonder why we need our suppliers who are normally out of reach for travel.
Most products were as cheap or cheaper than we can buy them, discounts for paying by switch, no minimum order,no carriage costs.
Of cause people will say Ag market bigger, but tell me why do we need suppliers, why enter into negoiations when discounts readily available from local sources.
It is a fact that a major supplier of rodenticide sells to Ag market cheaper than it is sold to our largest supplier.
Instead of chasing suppliers for discount go to source.

I've had Ali training, and where I go I've always had to sign a poisons register and since Rogue Traders carry training certificate.
But in old days no, rep showed me how 20 years ago I think it was, local supplier knew I had induction no problem.
Got Ali cert because I wanted Strychnine ticket, one went with other.
Had same problem with Cymag, trained by Forestry Commission and then Game Conservancy, no probs then supplier retired, went elsewhere would not recognise my training---- but would supply a fellow rural pester who had not one days training or used product because they knew him.Shakes head.
But things are changing,I actually blame the producers who sell to Ag market, because they could make changes by their power and so could DEFRA if they chose to.

that is true nick, but it goes back to that some old arguement of these guys selling aliminum phosphates to farmers and there farm hands that havent had the suffient training to handle and carry these deadly gasses in the correct manner, i made it to the UKPCO training day last weekend and am releived to say ive had sufficient training and am now alot wiser in how i aught to be hadling this stuff, but i can honestly say if i wanted this product before i had the training, i have no fears in saying they would of supplied me with such gasses if i'd of asked for them, like i say they are handy for some things but i do feel they should act more responsably in other area's.

Pestech you only need bit of paper to buy restricted products, remember British Law it is illegal to use a product without training.

i actualy by my rodentacides from the local Agricultural supplier, simply because they are alot cheaper, also purchased mice/rat/mole traps from them, and the fact they are open 7 days a week and they are less than 2 miles away is a big help, it can be a bit of a nause when you get a job come in late on a friday and you need a few supplies and cant wait untill monday to speak to pest control suppliers, then have to wait another day for delivery, so these guys do come in handy, i will say one thing ...ive never been asked to show any paperwork/certificates to these when ever ive purchased rodenticides, allthough they are aware i am a pestie, and do have my cards on there counter.
