I just got some post concerning joining this BASIS. With all these organisations i think its about them making money for hardly no return?
Looking at it it says you have to have 20 CPD points annually lol.
Is this a way to get people on different courses to get these CPD points ?. Also with this came a BPCA leaflet about joing them  are these the same or working together.
I think all this is fine for the big boys but not for me a 1 man band and is money i can't afford to shell out

I notice that one of the national servicing companies is now paying employees who get themseves BASIS registered more than those who are'nt. |

Two points in OZ will cost between $300 and $500. Twenty points per year required.

I've just submitted a few things to basis for ag and for pest control CPD points and it was ever so easy. I'll let you know how you can pick up some points hopefully by the end of the week.

Why yes Nick but the Board are Irish Pest Controllers and are very capable of looking after themselves!! It isn't quite simply an arm of the BPCA.  |

The Irish Pest Control Association is a completely separate Association to the BPCA. The Board is made up of Managers from established Irish Pest control companies, some, wait for it, sole traders.  |

Is that not what happens to policeman,judges and politicians.

What makes me 'Laugh' is that this is just how these 'Governing Bodies' start up in the first place! Who are half these guys anyway? Pesters!
I see now, the BPCA has started an Irish division? Ok. And who is 'Padraig O' Flagherty'; Chairman of the 'Irish Pest Board'? He's just some bloke who probably put his name foreward as an 'I could do that for ye' to the Brit lot. Now, our nominal 'Padraig' stands to rocket through 'the ranks' to become some Strandian figure of omnipotence, handing down " Certification " to blokes who, a year or less before, may have been his work mates. Aah! But 'Padraig' is Now 'Titled'. He's Above such ordinary mortals and can judge and place them .....
It's the same with all such " Initiation " rituals, in my eyes. From British " Wiccan " to Kiwi Maori (Viz. " Once Were Warriors "):
Who 'Initiated' the Initiators???
Dig back deep enough and I suspect ye'll find an ordinary bloke. Living in an ordinary house. Doing and ordinary job. Then he has an idea and tells a couple of mates; Secretary and Treasurer ... Next thing ye know, these Ordinary Pesters (remember!) are 'Qualifying' us.
So, yes; Why not get back to basics?

Is that a "I told you so", my problem is the fact that Basis was set up for Agriculture and condition was having a NPTC spray certificate(recognised by government)not an inhouse pest control spray course that to me has weakened Basis.
But then BPCA & CIEH had to do something different to NPTA.

Sounds as if the penny is finally dropping with some of you!!!!!!!!!!
I am sure many of you are learning far more from information you get from speaking to others on this forum, then you will learn in a classroom from people telling you things you can read in a book.

I seen that ages ago and i could'nt figure it out.The only thing i could come up with is you get points for every course you pass hence costing you money.How much it will cost to get the full points is not known.
You could also try another way,The law states only that you are required to be shown/trained by someone who is competent and trained in that specific tecnique.Why not ask on here or a trained pestie near you and see if they know the certain training section you require and see if they would train you.
As with all organisations you pay money and get nothing for it.
