Falling asleep on the sofa with tv on i heard the name of Moles mentioned, 3/4 asleep i was watching this Brit who has moved to France. He then said he has a big mole problem on his huge lawn, he tried gas , poisoned worms etc to no avail lol. Then he said he's going to blow the moles up, the french have these devices with little explosives placed in the run which when moley touches a metal prong bar it sends a charge to the explosive and blows them up (i couldn,t belive my eyes or ears lol). They waited and waited but no BANG, so off to bed then it was BANG BANG BANG How about that lads Bry |

Ye most certainly weren't dreaming there, Bry! I've known about these " Mole Guns " for years now. Actually used more than just in France too.
Saw my first one at a CLA Game Fair, decades ago. This one consisted of a silvery gray, rectangular block of some steel. It had - like ye say - a basic little trip mechanism on top and, this one, had a threaded nipple on the front.
I asked the guy who's display it was (probably our Trevor, actually. Though I'd never heard of him then and can't remember what the bloke looked like) I asked him what the hell it was. He told me it was a Mole Gun.
I'm like, " Yeah. Right ....." But he said ye put a - I'm sure it was a .303 ! - round in that screw bit and buried it in the run. " And then ....? " I asked. Rather pointlessly. " And then the mole comes along. Triggers it. And it fires. " He says.
Me? I says, " Oh. Yeah. Right. .303, right in the Moles face. " All the time thinking, " F**K RIGHT OFF!!!!! ".
True though.
Sod playing Metal Detecter Poaching at night in France then, eh?

Never heard of these mole explosives before but they sound a great idea though especially using a round. It would certainly make the things easier to skin out. |

You see, last year on the "other" forum you thought it highly amusing when I made reference to blowing up moles. Now you see it.... Maintain the balance. |
