Hello all!

I have an older Victorian styled house in Boston, Ma and I think I might be infested with bats or mice! ewwwww
I can hear scratching noises from the attic, and when I go up there I don't see anything but I do see droppings, now I don't know the difference between mouse or bat droppings. Is there something I can do in a humane way, to get rid of whatever is up there? or should I just call in an expert to determine what it is? I wouldnt mind saving the money and doing it myself but I'm a little lost

I have seen bats diving above my house during dusk hours, but I never see them actually going into the house..

Thanks for any advice.

bat droppings similar to mice, but will crumble when squeezed,

here in the uk bats are VERY protected.

a simple task to find who the droppings belong to is drop a bar of chocolate on the hatch, then check for teeth marks as often as you can.

small teeth mark - mice
large teth mark - rat or squirrel

thats here in the uk anyhows............

get the local prof team in to be safe.

Donks; In USA mate, bats are treated very differently because they can carry rabies. For that reason alone, a Pro' should be the way to go. I understand rabies treatment can be damned expensive over there.

If its rodents? We all kmow how well the average enthusiatic amateur ends up doing, most of the time ~ and a rewiring Is hellishly expensive!

Anyway, that aside; Hows ye new little side kick coming on now?

Dusty,

Thank you for the link, I had a strong feeling it was bats and the rabies things scared me so I gave them a call. They were very helpful and came right out to help me out. Sure enough it was bats and they sealed up the spot they were getting in and got rid of them, even cleaned up to droppings.

Thanks again!

Thanks all for the
