With greatest pleasure and, quite possibly, at some length ~ Knowing me! ~ Donks. Be nice to have anothers views to compare with though, mate. Come to that; Be bloody good to think more or us were still reading knowledge handed down across the ages, rather than just 'Labels'.
Anyway, I consider it a Bible. I'll tell ye more once I've fed the Dogs and myself and settled down for the evening

I have a 1st Edition in V. Good condition here, Donk's. Good as new, really. Published 1924. It's 1 3/4" of book. Cost me 40.00 and I 'stole' it at that price. The Bay. I know where to look for a choice of copies today. To me, it's priceless at any cost.
It was written in an age when people had Rats. And I mean they Had the buggers! This guys life was a mission to Educate the populace about them. And then to get them off their collective behinds and take action to, collectively, Do Something about them. This is what he attempts instruct on and to instill with this book. And Mark Hovall wasn't one of these 'Rich Country Squire' types who wrote a load of whaffle from the arm chair.
Being Historical, of course, it covers a lot of material which is of no further 'use' to us. Eg. We would no longer dream of putting down Strychnine snackettes for rats! But reading how one used to prepare that sh!t? And Squill. And Phosper ... Fasinating stuff! So it gives us an insight into the History of our Trade.
Most of all though, it tells us how to Destroy Rats. You name the place /circumstance? He'll have it covered in here. Ways we'd never dare discuss! Having sand bags suspended, ready to drop over escape holes, as we sneak in?! Don't knock it till ye've heard the man out though!
And that's the best summarry advice I can give ye here, as regards this Brilliant book, man:
Put it on ye xmass list and see for yeself why I Love It so much.
Then, maybe, we can discuss it? |

Err ..... What too, mate? It's a book. Ye have to buy the actual book to read it. If ye interested in adding such a valuable edition to ye own library? Sure thing! I'm off again - right now - to sort ye some prices ...
Expect mail in about five minutes
(I'd Love to discuss this one with someone else who's read it - which, IMHO, should mean Any other Rat Catcher!)
