Nearly stopped my heart there, Nick! I thought ye were going to show me a Fuller Rat!
Got a " Hoodie " in my store, mate. Have to be fetching it out presently too .....
I notice the pan on that one differs from mine. I have a sort of spoon, where as that one appears flat and is drilled. Any idea how that came about?
I know they started (still are?) making them again. Price was prohibitive though! Not one of the remakes, is it? |

Real article, used to use for maggies, believe it or not. Came from Gilbertson & Page 1970ish.
Just wish I had kept a lot more of my live catch traps. But they got abused, junk chucked on top of them in the landie. Some are no doubt still out there being used when I lent them out, when I had no use for them. Wonder what happened to the traps we used on the Forestry Commission. Still got my drey poking poles from that era, in use up until the mid 90's. My one wish, I had got hold of one of the mole spuds that were used when cymaging. Spud was used instead of spoon. Finally last year got trapping hammers, help from JD

Got some cages here that'd make ye eyes water, Nick! All three sizes of Young's double entry. Fantastic little mechanism on those. Fenn Cat, mint condition. Various Fenn Folders ~ the triangular ones. " Venus " Magpie trap, by Fenn. One that led to the fracas in the kitchen Don't think I'll be setting That one for any maggie's though! Got a lovely Fuller Cat Cage too. Definately one of my favourites, that one. Built like it could hold a small badger. Couple of other automated bird nets too.
Had a new net made for my " Hoodie ". Old hemp one was shot. Get some knocked up for the others I have here and there'd be less that six Gray Crows on my patch in nect to no time
Anyone else here got a yen for the old traps? Let's be hearing from ye!

I like a lot of the old equipment it was built for a specific purpose. My squirrel traps over 30 years old still in use, telling Matt the other night my rabbit spade same vintage, built to last or be repaired. My traps have all been working traps, so frequently made do with what I had. Still have my first Larssen trap, when they were new to the UK, funny got rid of all my other Larseen traps when finished on shoot. Imbras ,Jubys, brilliant traps.Wish I had kept some.

Nick, I still use a Trappers Hammer made before my Grandad was born. And, as I said elsewhere just the other day; Those of us who get hold of those old tools - as you have yours, via Oz. A perfectly good source of british made ones of yestercentury - will be able to pass them down to the kiddies of today and chances are They'll be able to pass them down. Like ye say, mate; Made to last! If the shaft should wear or rot out? Fit a new one and carry on.
Imbra's and Juby's? I have a few 'users' here yet. And I'm getting a steady enough stream of bumps about them too. Every bugger comes to hear about them and want them in the end, eh? Myself, I prefer the Juby. But then, I don't try to catch rabbits with them. They certainly can take care of business though!
I've nothing against the 'new' Body Grippers. I use those too. But, while I just missed the Gin, I'm very much a child of the 'Pan'. And, let's face it, 99% of what was available to our generation involved them treading on something. There were the few they had to shove against. But 'Weight on a Plate' has always served me well enough. Bloody things were / are easier to set too. I'd be terrified of shaking hands with a Yankie Pro' Trapper. The Grip those blokes must develope!
Anyway, where's Dave in all this? Has no one else here any thoughts or experience 'outside the Box'???

Which sort ye got, Dave? Only I believe they might have done an Arsenic, which I'd love to get hold of!

I actually found a tin (rotted through) of Phosphorus in this cottage! Know a lady in town who well remembers Rodine too. Bit embaressing actually, as I'd just said how it went out with the ark!

Not a member of NPTA or any other such thing, mate.
Anyone else got anything to show us? I've got a fair pile of gear here, but Photobucket takes so long .....

Here ye go, lads. Another thing I'd shot to show someone on another forum. This is an " Enterprise " mole trap. Produced in the 1900's by a well known west country firm.
