Hi again, I think it was spotlight that mentioned useing kanias, I've just gone over to this type of trap and would appreciate any tips on use for squirrels. Thank the ogg.
If its the new model, fine, but on the old model, the spring pressure would force the treadle to hit the side of the trap body - check it's not touching when set. Also had "misfires" due to the "killing bar" jamming on the setting pin shoulder.
As fidgety says there are a few build quality/design niggles but despite all it's annoying habbits it does what it says on the tin. This trap does not take prisoners!
They rarely sit flat and usually need to be propped up. The angle of the spring pushes the treadle to the left (I've never known it touch the side though) and this can sometimes allow the squirrel to squeeze past but that is rare. I have a couple of traps with a treadle guide presumably designed to stop this but it doesn't really.
They're excellent in lofts always killing humanely. What did you use before?
Hi All, thanks for input, yes build quality is a bit rough. when the trap is not set I would think the arm on the killing bar swings free from the clip on the case? sorry but no insructions and haven't seen them used before.spotlight used forestry mutlicatch type, run in and bag bang get my drift.thanks again for help. the ogg
