Sorex difenacoum is expected to be formally included in Annex I of the Biocidal Products Directive (BPD) 98/8/EC during 2007. This news follows a successful evaluation of one of the active substances contained in the Sorex rodenticide range.
The draft Evaluation Report compiled by the Rapporteur Member State, Finland is now with the European Commission and a three month consultation period is taking place which is expected to end in July 2006. Following the completion of the Evaluation Report, there will be a 12 month ratification process by the Commission and other Member States.
Sorexs Shirley Wilson says, We expect that Sorex difenacoum will be formally included in Annex I during 2007. Syngentas brodifacoum has also been proposed for inclusion in Annex I and will follow a similar programme.
Sorex has already made a considerable investment in its formulation dossiers. We will therefore be ready to submit these dossiers to regulatory authorities in EU Member States when our active substances are formally included in Annex I, explains Shirley Wilson Ultimately this will enable us to continue to provide our customers with Sorex range of high quality and effective rodenticide products.
