Best Business Names 2004 follows the success of last year's inaugural competition in which was won by by Cornish landscape gardener The Lawnranger who said: "Lots of people rang up to say they had seen the business mentioned in the local papers. It generated a lot of interest and we received a lot of new business calls from people who had read about the competition. I enjoyed every moment of it and would really recommend taking part as it's a brilliant experience!"
Commenting on the key to competition success, Richard Duggleby, head of external relations at Yell, publisher of Yellow Pages directories, said: "We're looking for names that are both memorable and relevant to the business. Whether there's a pun in the title or clever use of wordplay, originality is crucial for success."
"Last year's campaign attracted so much attention that we've decided to run the competition again. There are plenty of businesses in the UK with humorous and imaginative names, and Yellow Pages wants to continue recognising and rewarding the best."
The Judging
From all nominations received, an expert panel will shortlist a top five in each of 12 regions, to include a regional winner. The 12 regional winners will then battle it out for the national title of Yellow Pages 'Best Business Name 2004'.
