So our building manager has arranged for an exterminator to come spray our place tomorrow. We can't be in the aptartment for 24hrs and we have to empty our cabinets. My questions are:
1) Are we just emptying the cabinets so he can spray in there or do we need to move our food out of the apartment to keep it from being contaminated? Like can we just put everything in plastic bags and move it to a different room?
2) Pet safety. We have a fish tank with a fish and an underwater frog in it. Do we need to cover that in plastic wrap on top to keep them safe from fumes in the air or is the pet issue more for cats and dogs who might lick the sprayed spots?
I haven't been able to ask my manager this because he doesn't speak very good English, and I'm not sure which company he's hired to spray our apartment. We had a few instances of bugs near the kitchen sink drains in the dishwasher and mentioned it to him and since he's cleaning out two recently vacant apartments he's added ours to the list. I believe the bugs (as someone on a forum identified) were baby German cockroaches. (http://www.e-bug.net/forum/messages/20571.shtml )
Our neighbor who used to live in our place said they never had bugs except for about 2 weeks this time of year when it gets cold, but after that they're not there (although he said his looked like ants). They've since haven't been seen in almost a week, but I figure it couldn't hurt to spray anyway.
ask the chap when he comes he can do your place last giving you time to move stuff out of the way,we couldnt give you a better answer without knowing what kind of treatment/chemicals he is going to use. sorry all the best.
