I am sure we will see more of them over the next few months as people try to dispose of products that were not supported and have now been withdrawn. Here is one example;

I notice the same person is selling a further 19 items that have been withdrawn, and to sell these items on e bay is in breach of there rules.....and not to mention he`s breaking the law.....but there again as long as e bay are making monies from these sales they dont care.

I see that was pulled off quite fast, undoubtedly many more will appear over the coming weeks and months.
Lets see how fast you can get this one removed;

This seller has been trying to sell this product for well over a month.

Perhaps someone should have a word with a large hardware store chain in Norfolk. Noticed they've still got lots of Sorexa Mouse Killer on their shelves.

To the 'partially educated' what are the implications to such a store?

Also what happens to a customer who buys and uses such a product?

I (and I hope others too) would be interested to know more about the legal aspects.

Perhaps Nigel or Iain would be kind enough to oblige?

This is what can happen ;
http://www.defra.gov.uk/news/2006/060407a.htm

Normally a kind word of warning is enough to get products removed but I am sure if we surfed the web, we can find quite a few sellers of online stores who will still be advertising and quite happy to sell unapproved products.

Heres one already;
http://www.stopthatpest.co.uk/html/mouse_control.html

Another;
http://www.pestatak.co.uk/index.php/product/rodents/mice/1pr001.html

Be amazed at what you can buy here;
http://www.farmstoreonline.co.uk/index.html?lang=en-uk⌖=d99.html

Just a few examples from page one of a google search.

I am sure many will no longer be selling these products, they have had several weeks to sort out their websites but with so much out there.....well!!!!

I fear that this problem may be with us for a while, partly as some organisations get their web sites belatedly updated and partly as some sellers try and get rid of unsold stock.

Will the HSE / PSD have a 'police force' out there actively checking on sellers / users ref products that should have been withdrawn? Personally, I doubt it - they have plenty more important things to be doing. But they should respond to complaints - so perhaps we should start complaining to them.

Remember that the products that have been withdrawn have been so because of COMMERCIAL rather than SAFETY reasons. The manufacturers concerned have decided that they will not invest in supporting certain actives, particularly when they had no guarantee that this (extremely large) investment would actually result in an active being accepted. Perhaps the classic example of this is Cymag.

We must hope that the 'product stewardship' responsibilities of the manufacturers will kick in and lazy / irresponsible retailers will be 'persuaded' to fall in line.

The court case nigel refers to above followed after the company concerned had ignored warnings to stop supplying products that had never been approved, which is rather different from the current situation. However, if sellers continue brazenly flouting quiet 'words in shell-likes', then court cases could follow.

Is there not a cut off date (usually some months or years) for suppliers to dispose of stock through normal market practices and then a period after that (usually some months) for the purchaser to use up current stock?

It would also appear that some may just be making up their own products;

What the hell is it? - Creosote!

Have 'Asked a Question' to discover what the item is.

If they let me know, I'll post the reply.

Must be a lot, as you pour it down the 'Mile Hill.' Wonderful spelling and grammar!

Wonder how many he's sold!!

Maybe I'll even buy some, just for fun!! Maybe not!!

Hare, creosote is a timber preservative. Widely used in Australia on posts buried in the ground and sub floor timbers on houses up until the 1980's
It then was labelled as a possible cacinogen and had some of its application restricted.
It is a very nasty prouct if you accidentally get it on your skin as it burns and causes blisters (one wonders what it does to lungs)
This site might shed some light
