I have been contacted today by a very distraught lady.

Her neighbour had a wasps' net treated by a local (?) outfit and she says he used a white powder which blew all over everywhere including the walls and her garden.

Almost immediately her two cats started to signs of ilnness, compulsive drinking, loss of appetite and convulsions.

She can't get hold of the pestie, no paper trail and he won't answer his phone.

She wanted me to tell her what the A.I. was.

Obviously it's likely to be Ficam but as I can't be certain I am not able to state that positively and have advised her to get the animals blood tested.

Does anyone have any experience of cats being afftected by bendiocarb.

I won't name the pestie for obvious reasons

Yes Ken
Ficam very toxic to cats. About 5 - 10 years ago pestie somewhere in UK (can't recall where)was fined for spraying cat's bed and cat with Ficam W. Cat died v soon afterwards; hence prosecution.

Obviously don't go jumping in at deep end, but does sound very ominous - AND what an amateur (and by the way illegal operation if no Data was left on site) but I'm sure you are aware of this Ken. Tell her to get cat to vet ASAP - poss do cholinesterose testing? Unfortunatley I think it may be too late.

Hope this helps

Regards Dave

If its not too late suggest to the vet that Atropine is the antidote. Many PC's in Oz used to carry Atropine to remedy acute poisoning when using organophosphtes.
